Personnel Security (PERSEC) and Personnel Vetting Fundamentals

Target audience consists of: Security Specialists, SSOs, SSRs, GSSOs, FSOs, and professionals responsible for the management, oversight, or administration of personnel security programs.
This course provides a foundational overview of Personnel Security (PERSEC) and the federal personnel vetting framework associated with national security eligibility determinations. Instruction reviews the adjudicative guidelines used to evaluate eligibility for access to national security information, along with the procedures and considerations associated with the appeals process following an unfavorable determination.
The course also examines recent developments impacting the federal vetting environment, including updates to the National Background Investigation System (NBIS) and the Trusted Workforce 2.0 initiative as they relate to applicant submission procedures and federal investigative standards.
Additional instruction addresses reporting obligations identified in Security Executive Agent Directive 3 (SEAD 3), along with the operational roles of continuous evaluation and continuous vetting within modern personnel security programs.
